Creative thinking is central to science, art and cognitive development. What are the computations behind creative behavior? We used a novel automated behavioral paradigm and inspiration from biological scale-invariant sensing mechanisms (e.g., chemotaxis in E. coli) to find specific circuit topology underlying creative exploration. This computational model can further guide us in finding the neural substrate of creativity.
